    Maartje Designs became reality in 2018. After working in the Fashion Industry for many years, my desire to change career resulted in some serious soul searching. My love for Interiors, Fabrics, Materials, Understanding of Colour and People guided me and made me become an Interior Designer/ Stylist.

    Creating tailor made spaces, either Residential or Commercial is what Maartje Designs can do for you based upon your needs, wishes and budget, small or large.

    Who is the person behind  Maartje Designs?

    Creative, Intuitive, Sensitive, Attention to detail, Fabric and Art lover, Concept thinker and a Perfectionist

    My name is Maartje Hartveldt and I relocated from Amsterdam with my family in 2016 to create a new lifestyle for us all.  I saw an opportunity to start my own Interior Decorating Business in Geelong and from April 2018 I made this business adventure official. Till now I have done amazing Interior Design/ Styling jobs for Residential and Commercial Spaces.

    I have always worked in the Fashion Industry in Amsterdam and the last 10 years was as a Fabric Buyer/ Buyer for a Dutch Fashion Designer.  This combined with my love of interiors led to this new business venture.

    My eyes are always taking everything in and I am very sensitive for disharmony which can be exhausting 😉 but is very useful in my work. I am always aiming for a certain flow, harmony and feeling of a cohesive space in which there should be balance between materials, elements, texture, colour, pattern and shape. To be able to create this, there are key questions like;

    How will the space be used? – practical needs – who uses the space? – when is the space used – how is the space used. What activities will happen here? Is it a residential or commercial space? With this in my mind, I can create a vision which will be the starting point of the Interior Design/ Styling job.

    Beautiful space

    When I arrived home from a short trip away I couldn’t believe my eyes as I entered my room. It was if I had walked into a different home and instantly fell in love. Everything was so thought out and specialised to suit my needs. The colours and ornaments fit my personality perfectly and the extra space created a completely new and open feel. I look forward to spending time in my room these days and love the simplicity in cleaning it up and maintaining my new beautiful space.
